BOKAKHAT: A daring cattle theft bid in Latabari, Bokakhat, Assam, was dramatically busted when local villagers caught a group of thieves red-handed on March 28. The incident took place when four individuals were seen loading stolen cattle onto a luxury car, which led the village protection group to act swiftly.
The robbers had untied cattle from a nearby cowshed and were trying to make their getaway when alert villagers sounded the alarm. Confronted by the unexpected outcry, the culprits left both the stolen cattle and their swanky getaway car behind and took to the shadows.
In a swift and furious response, the villagers set the abandoned vehicle ablaze, reducing it to ashes before law enforcement could arrive on the scene. The vehicle, identified by its registration number AS12 AA 2648, was completely destroyed as police and fire brigade teams worked to extinguish the flames.
The police have launched a search operation to arrest the escaped suspects, and an investigation is under way into the incident. The incident only serves to draw attention to the growing problem of cattle theft in the area, with locals resorting more and more to taking the law into their own hands to safeguard their animals.
