DIBRUGARH: As per the directive issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, a wartime safety mock drill was conducted in Dibrugarh, simultaneously with similar exercises across the country. The drill focused on preparedness and precautionary measures to be taken during an aerial attack in times of war.

The mock drill took place at the busy Jayanta Dutta Road (Coal Road), located in the heart of Dibrugarh town. Organized under the supervision of the Civil Defence Department, the exercise saw active participation from Assam Police, NDRF, Fire and Emergency Services, APDCL, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Health Department, and several other allied departments.

The objective of the mock drill was to raise public awareness on crucial wartime response protocols—what actions to take in the event of a bomb attack, how to protect oneself during an air raid, methods for seeking shelter in bunkers, response systems for handling casualties, providing first aid, and ensuring the supply of food and water during emergencies.

“This initiative also plays a vital role in assessing and enhancing our overall disaster preparedness, helping to mitigate potential injuries and damage in the face of any unforeseen eventuality,” said Bikram Kairi, District Commissioner, Dibrugarh.
