JAMUGURIHAT: The ongoing work on the construction of the Chokighat Bridge has neared its completion. Once completed, this bridge will drastically reduce the travel distance between the towns of Jamugurihat and Tezpur and bring a positive change in terms of communications in the Northern part of the state.
The completion of this project will be the realisation of the long-time dream of the people of the region in terms of better connectivity. The Chokighat bridge has been constructed over the Jiabhorali River and is over 1.2 km in length. With nearly 90% of the work completed, this project is expected to be opened to the public in the next two months. It is important to note that this project will reduce the travelling distance between Tezpur and Jamugurihat from the current 52 km to 18 km.
Meanwhile, the Assam Chief Minister will be inaugurating the flyover in the Maligaon locality of the city on Wednesday, thus bringing some relief to the Guwahatians from the massive traffic problems.
