BOKO: Kamrup District Red Cross Society (RCS) and its branch Boko Red Cross Society, and Lumpi Red Cross Society branch jointly celebrated the World Red Cross Day on Thursday at Lower Lumpi (some 30 kilometers from Boko) along the Assam-Meghalaya border under 28 No. Boko-Chaygaon LAC. Villagers from Lumpi along with people from nearby villages took part in the daylong programme. The programme started with Red Cross Society’s flag hosting by Nigama Adhikary, Advisor of the Boko Red Cross Society. After that, all present invitees and Red Cross Society officials including SRM Mridul, Kamrup District Secretary of the RCS, offered silent prayers for the souls of those killed in the terrorist massacre in Pahalgam.
SRM Mridul said in his speech, “The Red Cross Society, both internationally and nationally, aims to prevent and alleviate human suffering, particularly during armed conflicts and disasters, by providing humanitarian services, promoting peace, and ensuring respect for human dignity. The RCS works to protect life and health, focusing on the needs of individuals, and promoting understanding and cooperation among people.”
