Guwahati: Assamese filmmaker Rima Das's film 'Tora's Husband' has been selected for World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Notably, the film in which lead roles are played by Abhijit Das and Torali Kalita is one among the ten films chosen for the World Premiere.
TIFF unveiled 10 features with world premieres for the festival section where international films outside the Hollywood studio orbit compete.
"We launched Platform to shine a brighter light on some of the most original films and distinct voices at our festival. Now in year seven, it's become a true home for international auteurs on the rise," TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey said in a statement.
The other films selected for the World Premiere are Charcoal (Carvão) by Carolina Markowicz (Argentina), Emily Frances by O'Connor (UK), The Gravity (La Gravité) by Cédric Ido (France), Hawa Maïmouna by Doucouré (France), How to Blow Up a Pipeline by Daniel Goldhaber (USA), Riceboy Sleeps by Anthony Shim (Canada), Subtraction (Tafrigh) by Mani Haghighi (Iran, France), Thunder (Foudre) by Carmen Jaquier (Switzerland) and Viking by Stéphane Lafleur (Canada).
Earlier Rima Das won several national and international awards for her film Village Rockstars.
