BOKAKHAT: The Rongamati Gaon Panchayat Cooperative Society Limited, located in Badulipar of Golaghat district, has completed glorious 50 years and stepped into its Golden Jubilee year. To mark the occasion, a four-day colourful celebration has been planned from April 24 to April 27. On the first day of the programme, April 24, the Golden Jubilee flag was hoisted by Phanidhar Gogoi, the President of the celebration committee and also the President of the cooperative society. As a part of the Jubilee celebration, a memorial constructed by Tapan Gogoi, Phanidhar Gogoi, and their family in memory of Burhagao’s first police officer, the Late Lokeshwar Gogoi, and his wife Sewali Gogoi, was inaugurated by Rajiv Gogoi, retired principal of Khumtai Higher Secondary School. Saplings were planted by Social Worker Sarbeswar Duara, Diman Gogoi, and Teacher Dipanka Baruah. The newly-constructed front building of the cooperative society, built by the society’s officials, was inaugurated by Jagat Chandra Kalita, President of Assam Gana Parishad, Bokakhat district. Following this, at the premises of Badulipar Senior Secondary School, the Bohagi festival flag was hoisted by Atul Bora, the MLA of Bokakhat constituency and a senior Cabinet Minister in the Assam Government. Alongside the minister’s flag, 50 more flags were hoisted by 50 eminent local personalities in alignment with the Golden Jubilee celebration. While hoisting the flag, Minister Bora extended Bohag Bihu greetings to everyone involved in the event as well as the people of Assam. As the Agriculture Minister of the state, he encouraged all farmers not to stop at cultivating only one crop per year but to continue with successive crops in the same field to become more self-reliant. He remarked that Bihu is our national festival, deeply connected with agriculture. Being an Assamese, he proudly stated that this year, the constituency has been able to welcome 181 pairs of ‘husori’ (traditional Bihu performing groups).
