TEZPUR: With an aim to control water-borne diseases like Cholera, Diarrhoea & Gastroenteritis etc by creating awareness and initiating prevention action, an awareness meeting was held at Assistant Labour Commissioner office premises. The meeting was convened by Dr. Pradip Kumar Lahkar, Medical Inspector of Plantations, Tezpur with the tea garden Welfare Officers, tea gardens association ABITA, TAI and health assistance in Sonitpur district.
During the meeting, Dr. Pradip Kumar Lahkar discussed regarding precautionary measures to be taken in the tea estate of Sonitpur district. Dr Lahkar directed all Welfare Officers to ensure safe drinking water in the housing labour lines and to prevent stagnation of water in labour lines and take proper steps to provide safe drinking water, prevention of open defecation, repair of broken drainage system if any and chlorination of water point sources regularly.
Attending the programme, Joint director of health services, J Ahmed and district surveillance officer Dr Tilak Bhatta explained all precautionary measures to be taken by the management and workers against water borne diseases and proper reporting of all water borne diseases.
