TANGLA: “It is high time for the students to be aware of the menace of drug abuse in our society and help the government to rid society of the menace which has been demoralizing the youths to a great extent.”
Chief adviser of MRSD NGO of Udalguri, Rewati Raman Sapkota said this while addressing an assembly of students, parents and teachers of Udalguri Girls’ HS school here at Udalguri town at an awareness programme on drugs abuse organized by the department of education of BTC in association with the Bodoland Education Foundation and MRSD NGO on Wednesday.
He also made a fervent appeal to the students to create awareness against the menace of drug abuse in their respective villages. He also informed that a massive campaign against the growing menace of drugs abuse will be organized by the NGO in the Udalguri district on June 26 on the occasion of International Day against Drugs Abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, senior teacher Ranjit Kumar Sarmah and NSS in-charge, Dr Mayaram Basumatary thanked the education department and the BTC government for taking such fruitful steps to make wide publicity against the social evil in the entire BTR region and hoped that the students would carry the messages to their respective villages.
