Bahari Xatra will be protected from erosion at any cost: Minister Pijush Hazarika

BARPETA: State Water Resource Minister Pijush Hazarika on Thursday visited the Bahari Xatra erosion-hit area. The mighty River Brahmaputra erodes massive part of Bahari area every year. Now the erosion has become a threat to the historical Bahari Xatra which was established by Mahapurush Sri Sri Haridev. Visiting the Xatra and erosion-hit area, Pijush Hazarika stated that Bahari Xatra would be protected at any cost. Likewise, measures will have been taken to protect Bahari Bazar area also. At first two preventive measures will be taken. First, with geo bag one and half kilometre area will be covered and second, in the extreme erosion-hit area porcupines will be given in order to change the flow of water to another direction.

MLA of Chenga, Ashraful Hussain, Abdur Rahim Ahmed, MLA of Barpeta, Sherman Ali, MLA of Baghbar, Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, Tej Prasad Bhushal and other officials accompanied the minister. Pijush Hazarika later visited the house of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Barpeta president Sankar Ch Das, who passed away on Wednesday and condoled his demise.
