‘Barek Karuhu Pranam’ celebrated with traditional dance performances at Demow

DEMOW: The Demow Nityalay’s annual programme ‘Barek Karuhu Pranam’ was held in Jyoti Bishnu Auditorium. The programme started with the lighting of earthen lamps by Dr Gitali Saikia, Professor in HCDG College, Nitaipukhuri. The students of Demow Nityalay performed Guru Bandana, Nadu Bhangi, Nandi Bhatima, Jhumura, Sali Dance, Krishna Dance, Dakhawatar Dance, and Sattriya Dance. Niren Kakoty, a Sattriya Dance Senior Fellow, performed the Gokhai Dance in the programme. Under the leadership of Pubali Thengal Gogoi, Principal of Demow Nityalay, Pallab Das, and Bidyut Bikash Borah, the dance and khol badan programme was organized, while Hindu Jyoti Gogoi, President of the programme, anchored.

Pubali Thengal Gogoi, who received the Rameswar Saikia Borbayan ‘Norton Utka’ Award for the year 2025, presented by Sankari Sangeet Bidyapith at Guwahati Kalakshetra, was felicitated with a citation, horai, and angabastra in the programme. Niren Kakoty, Guwahati Sattriya Dance Senior Fellow, Mrinal Ranjan Gogoi, Retired Teacher, Bipul Dutta, and Umesh Chetia, President of Demow Press Club, were present as chief guests in the programme.
