Beware Litchi Lovers: Assam Girl Choked to Death After Litchi Seed Stuck in her Throat

GUWAHATI: If you are a litchi lover and love eating this seasonal fruit then you need to read this as a 16-year-old girl died after a litchi seed was stuck in her throat.

The deceased girl was identified as 16-year-old Priya Bora.

According to reports, the incident took place in Assam's Jorhat district at Kakajan Sonari village under Teok police station on Sunday.

The father of the girl, who is a police constable, had brought home some litchis from the market and while she was eating litchi, a seed stuck in her throat, leading to breathing problems which resulted in choking.

Although the family members of the deceased admitted her to Teok FRU hospital, she had already declared dead on arrival.

The deceased father, Jiten Bora said, "After a litchi seed stuck to her throat, we immediately admitted her at Teok FRU hospital. She had faced breathing problems. But the doctor declared her brought dead."

Meanwhile, local villagers said that the girl was a bright student and she was preparing for her HSLC 2021 examination.
