‘Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp’ begins at Bokakhat to promote multilingual learning

Bokakhat: In accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the Central Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), a week-long program titled “Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp” has been launched under the National Education Policy 2020. The programme has already commenced in various schools.

In this context, the “Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp” started on June 27 at Nehru Vidyapith Primary School under the Bokakhat West Educational Block of Golaghat district. The camp was inaugurated by the school’s headmaster, Dibya Kumar Borah, during a meeting conducted by school management committee’s vice president, Dipti Bora.

In his inaugural speech, the headmaster highlighted the objectives and goals of the summer camp, emphasizing the importance of learning other Indian languages in addition to one’s mother tongue. He informed that, in the first phase of the camp, students would be taught Hindi.

During the meeting, assistant teacher Lakhmijita Phukan and guardian Ranu Bora also addressed the gathering. On the first day, students were trained in the Hindi alphabet, numbers, pronunciation, and recognition. They also learned to make Hindi alphabet cards and charts. Additionally, students received training in performing Hindi songs and dances. On the second day, students were taught commonly used conversational Hindi. They also performed Hindi poems and songs, creating a lively atmosphere. Hindi song and poetry recitation sessions were conducted by Anjali Karmakar.

The headmaster informed that the first phase of the summer camp will be held over three days (from June 27 to June 30), and a second phase will be conducted over four days in the first week of August. The camp will also introduce students to the cultural contributions of various ethnic groups, including folk arts, traditional music, and dances of different communities, along with information about freedom fighters and cultural icons. It is also noteworthy that a three-monthly meeting of the School Management Committee will be held after the training concludes.
