Birth anniversary of poet Jatindra Nath Duara celebrated in Sivasagar

The 134th birth anniversary of the first Xahitya Academi Award winner Assamese poet Jatindra Nath Duara was celebrated in Sivasagar.

GAURISAGAR: The 134th birth anniversary of the first Xahitya Academi Award winner Assamese poet Jatindra Nath Duara was celebrated at his home town Sivasagar under the joint aegis of New Look Academy School, Sivasagar and Rangpur Xahitya Xabha held at the auditorium of New Look Academy School.

Noted poets Punjan Baruah and Bijoy Robi Das took part in the function as appointed speakers. They highlighted Duara’s literary contributions and recited one of his poems. Earlier, Srimanta Borthakur, Principal of the school, made his welcome speech. In his speech, he emphasized honouring great personalities who enriched our national life. The event featured performances by Teacher Badan Chandra Sharma, Deepika Nath, students Chaokhun Gogoi and Sambrit Dutta while students Swastika Shreyam Bharali, Ribi Gaseng Gogoi, and Aakriti Malakar recited Duara’s works. Senior actors Jayanta Barthakur, Arnab Bardoloi, and Shilpi Hati Baruah performed dramatic dialogues. The event was coordinated by poet-teacher Meghali Hazarika Kakoti.
