Kokrajhar: New Bodo feature film Onnai, a story of love and sacrifice, produced by RB Film Productions, Kokrajhar, was released on Sunday with a grand premier show at Rupnath Brahma field, Ramfalbil. The film drew a positive response from cine lovers.
The third film of RB Film Productions is the first Bodo film to have an action director from South India. Onnai was formally released by MLA of Kokrajhar West, Rabiram Narzary in presence of MCLA, BTC, Jatirindra Brahma and Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh. A stage performance was also held before the grand opening ceremony where a good number of young artists presented a dance.
The film, produced by Riya Brahma under RB Film Productions, has been directed by Raja Narzary and the script has been written by Pankosh Lahary of Baksa. The actors in the film include Lingsar, Fuji, Riya, Winkle, Thaklai, Rajashree, Akalabya, Pwjakhang and Kamleswar.
In his inaugural speech, MLA Rabiram Narzary said the Bodo film had reached new heights with modern art and techniques that could attract the audience. He said the region was witnessing a new revolution in Bodo films.
Narzary said cinema and culture were the mirrors of a society which reflected the socio- culture and traditions of the society. He said that the lack of cinema halls was becoming a matter of concern. Lots of films were being produced annually but there were no cinema halls and this was discouraging the producers. He added that steps should be taken to develop infrastructure so that artistes could take up films as their profession.
