UDALGURI: The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) Udalguri district committee staged a four-hour hunger strike at Udalguri Bishnu Rabha Kristi premise to press for their demand to conduct BTC election before the extension of Governor's Rule.

Hundreds of BPF workers assembled at Bishnu Rabha Krishti premises with placards. Tridip Daimary, the former speaker of BTC, said that markets, schools and transport services had re-opened so there was no reason why the BTC polls should be delayed.

"We demand the Assam Government to conduct BTC election before the extension of Governor's Rule," he added. On the other hand, the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) also staged dharna in front of the DC demanding early election in BTC.
