DHUBRI: Bongaigaon Refinery is the largest industry in lower Assam and one of the 12 refineries of Indian Oil. In an interaction with the mediapersons of Bongaigaon and Chirang districts at Manas Guest House conference hall recently, Chief General Manager (I/c) G C Sikder informed that the refinery was marching ahead steadily with its wide range of quality products and meeting the requirement in a fast changing situation.
A presentation was made by DGM (TS) D Nandi on the overview of Indian Oil in general and Bongaigaon Refinery in particular covering physical, financial performance, achievements in various areas like safety, energy conservation and production as well as the ongoing Indmax and BS-VI project activities, CSR initiatives and plan for future growth and development of Bongaigaon Refinery.
G C Sikder informed that Bongaigaon Refinery was implementing two projects - BS-VI projects which include capacity expansion of DHDT to 1600 TMTPA, a new NHT unit, a new Sulfur Recovery Unit and a new Amine Treatment Unit while project activities for BS-VI project was also progressing at a fast pace to meet GOI Auto Policy deadlines. Project activities for INDMAX Project were going on in full swing with a target to commission by end of 2019.
Beside these, it was also implementing the Indian Oil Gyanodaya Scheme, Swachh Bharat Mission and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana, G C Sikder said. Bongaigaon Refinery was promoting solar energy, had opened a library in college, and imparted training to the youths on mechanical fittings, welding and gas cutting. Bongaigaon Refinery has also received various awards for its performance on safety, energy and environment, added G C Sikder. Supporting the 'Inspirational District Programme' launched by Prime Minister for quick and effective transformation in identified districts, Bongaigaon Refinery selected the adjoining Goalpara district as Aspirational District to carry out developmental works in the healthcare and educational area under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR Schemes).
