Bongaigaon Refinery inks MoU under CSR scheme

DHUBRI: Supporting the Aspirational District Programme launched by the Prime Minister aimed at quick and effective transformation in identified districts, Bongaigaon Refinery selected the adjoining Goalpara district as Aspirational District to carry out developmental works in the healthcare and educational area under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR Schemes).

Accordingly, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Goalpara district administration, was signed on Friday in the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Goalpara. Under this MoU, construction of girls’ toilet, provision for safe drinking water and solar panel in schools in Goalpara district will be provided under CSR scheme in collaboration with the district administration.

NITI Ayog has identified Goalpara district as an inspirational district and this district needs special attention for its development. Bongaigaon Refinery DGM (HR) N J Das, while talking to The Sentinel, informed that with safety, health and environment protection high on its corporate agenda, Indian Oil was committed to conducting business with a strong environment conscience so as to ensure sustainable development, safe work places and enrichment of the quality of life of its employees, customers and the community.

“Therefore, Bongaigaon Refinery has taken initiative for taking up projects for development of Goalpara district in the healthcare and education areas,” Das further informed. On the occasion, Goalpara Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka said that this noble initiative would help the district in providing support in respect of education and healthcare. “It will go a long way in promoting better education and well-being of the students and I thank and express my gratitude to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Bongaigaon Refinery for selecting Goalpara, which is one of the 117 Aspirational Districts in the country,” Deka further added.
