DHUBRI: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday thwarted an infiltration attempt by Bangladeshi nationals at the India-Bangladesh border in South Salmara-Mankachar district of Assam.

In an operation carried out this morning, the BSF successfully prevented a large group of Bangladeshi nationals from crossing into Indian Territory along the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s South Salmara-Mankachar district.

Alert BSF personnel deployed at the international border in the district observed suspicious movement of some people approaching from the Bangladesh side toward Indian Territory. These Bangladeshi nationals were attempting to illegally enter into Indian Territory. The BSF troops immediately responded and challenged them, causing the intruders to panic and retreat back into Bangladesh.

A BSF source stated that the Border Security Force is dedicated to the mission of securing the nation’s borders while upholding humanitarian values and international cooperation.

Meanwhile, according to various Bangladeshi social media sources, the 14 illegal citizens sent back by India were held at the no-man’s-land by Bangladeshi civilians and Border Guards. Bangladeshi social media engaged in spreading false propaganda accusing the BSF and claimed that these 14 individuals sent by India are not citizens of Bangladesh. Sources in Mankachar said that senior officials from both countries were present at the border, but as of filing this report, there was no news of a flag meeting between the two sides.
