Buddha Purnima celebrated at Grambazar Dibrugarh Buddhist temple

DIBRUGARH: Buddha Purnima festival was celebrated with traditional rituals at Grambazar Dibrugarh Buddhist temple on Monday. Devotees thronged the temple premises from early morning. Due to COVID-19, Buddha Purnima was celebrated in Dibrugarh in a small way by maintaning COVID-19 protocols.

"Last two year, Buddha Purnima was celebrated in a small way with small gatherings. But this year, we have celebrated the festival with all traditional rituals. We prayed for peace and happiness of the people," said Sumedhananda Vikkhu, head priest of Dibrugarh Buddhist temple.

Similarly, Buddha Purnima was also celebrated at Jyoti Nagar Buddhist temple in Dibrugarh. A seminar on Buddhist perspective on peace and harmony was organised at Jyoti Nagar Buddhist temple by International Brotherhood Mission in collaboration with Department of Anthropology, DHSK College, Dibrugarh, Buddha Chetana, Assam.
