KOKRAJHAR: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC Pramod Boro on Friday laid the foundation stone for the installation of the statue of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma at CIT-Kokrajhar in the presence of Director (Addl charge), CIT-Kokrajhar Prof Devendra Jalihal and several dignitaries.
Laying the foundation stone, CEM Boro said, “Honouring our icons and empowering our future, I have laid the foundation stone for the construction of the revered Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma’s statue in the premises of CIT, Kokrajhar. Bodofa was the architect of strong foundations for the Bodos and other downtrodden communities and the Government of BTR is committed to fulfil his dreams for the backward communities. We had also taken initiatives for the installation of Bodofa UN Brahma’s statue in the national capital New Delhi and launching of Bodofa Super-50 Mission and Bodofa Livelihood Mission for sustainable development.”
He also said that the Government of BTR had taken upon itself to release Rs 1 lakh to the family of Bodofa UN Brahma every month and also decided to honour the legacies of all great leaders of the Bodos.
After laying the foundation stone, Boro visited Karigaon at National Highway 31 to assess the progress of the thematic entrance gate to Kokrajhar, the headquarter town of Bodoland. He also visited Kokrajhar stadium where the 134th Durand Cup will commence from July 27.
