Cheques under AMFIRS distributed by Lakhimpur and Dhakuakhana MLAs

LAKHIMPUR: MLA of No. 111 Lakhimpur LAC, Manab Deka distributed cheques under Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme, 2021 (AMFIRS, 2021) among the women borrowers (prompt payer) under Telahi Development Block on Thursday. On this occasion, a ceremonial programme was organized at Telahi Anchalik Ranga Mancha under Madhya Telahi Gaon Panchayat under the auspices of Lakhimpur district administration.

Notably, the third phase rollout of the Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme (AMFIRS), 2021 for 11 lakh borrowers of Category-1 (Prompt Payer) was launched in Lakhimpur district on February 6 by Sanjay Kishan, the Minister for Tea Tribe Welfare and Labour Welfare, who is also the Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur.

On the other hand, the scheme for the regular payers was ceremonially launched in Dhakuakhana subdivision under the auspices of the Finance Department, Government of Assam and Dhakuakhana subdivisional administration.

The ceremonial programme in this connection was organized at No. 1 Bantow Gaon Ranga Mancha under the auspices of Dhakuakhana Development Block Office. In the programme, Block Development Officer (BDO) of Dhakuakhana Development Block, Mouchum Das delivered the welcome address. In his lecture, the BDO said that the cheques under AMFIRS, 2021 would be distributed to 2480 beneficiaries under Dhakuakhana Development Block in the upcoming days step by step.

Former Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Minister-cum-existing Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley attended the programme as chief guest. While launching the programme by distributing the cheques among 40 borrowers, the MLA termed the AMFIRS as one of the biggest scheme adopted by the Government of Assam ever in the post-independent years "This scheme will effectively benefit the women who are aspirants of financial empowerment and help them to manage the crisis they have been facing while repaying their loan amounts," MLA Naba Kumar Doley asserted in his lecture. The event was held under the management of Pachim Dhakuakhana Gaon Panchayat assistant secretary Rajib Das. Lakhimpur Zila Parishad chairperson Manju Borgohain, Harhi Zila Parishad member Titumoni Gohain Chetia, and others took part in the programme.
