Chief Minister's Institutional Plantation Programme launched in Sivasagar district

SIVASAGAR: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Megha Nidhi Dahal on Monday inaugurated the Chief Minister's Institutional Plantation Programme (CMIPP) in Sivasagar district with plantation drive at Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Park located at the premises of Deputy Commissioner's Office, Sivasagar. The plantation programme was attended by all the officials and staff of Sivasagar district administration. 15 indigenous fruit saplings were planted in the plantation function.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that in line with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav of the Government of India, Assam Chief Minister has initiated this initiative to systematically plant trees in all government offices, educational institutions and Anganwadi centres.

He also said that the programme, which will continue till August 15, focuses on planting indigenous fruits, flowers, medicinal plants so that they are not lost for any reason. He urged the department to upload geotagged photos of these saplings in shyamaleechouhad.assam.gov.in.

The Deputy Commissioner also participated in the plantation programme organized in the district jail. The Deputy Commissioner directed the jail superintendent as well as the district agriculture officer to upgrade the agricultural land near the district jail as an ideal agricultural farm.
