Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna reviews flood situation in Hojai

GUWAHATI: Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna in his visit to Hojai district on Thursday, took stock of the flood affected areas and relief measures undertaken by the district administration in the wake of the recent flash floods in the district. The Chief Secretary reviewed the prevalent situation caused by the rising water level of river Kopili and assessed the damages during this on-site visit. He also visited a relief camp situated at Singari Basti Lower Primary school and interacted with the camp inmates about relief measures. The Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioner to keep an eye on uninterrupted supply of essential items, such as food, water and medicines etc at the relief camp. So far 55 villages under three revenue circles have been affected in the district.

Later, the Chief Secretary chaired a review meeting to this effect with the Hojai district administration. Deputy Commissioner Dr.Sadnek Singh with a power point presentation apprised the Chief Secretary about the prevailing flood and COVID-19 situation and measures taken to address these issues. Hojai SP Ankur Jain also informed the Chief Secretary about various steps and measures taken by the district police.

On his return, the Chief Secretary also visited Nagaon and took stock of the current situation from the Deputy Commissioner. The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Moloy Bora, Divisional Commissioner, Central Assam, during the day-long tour, stated a press release.
