TINSUKIA: The All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) gave a clarion call to all railway workers to participate in National Joint Council of Action (NGCA) sponsored Parliament House gherao programme on August 10 against New Pension Policy.

Addressing a mammoth gathering of railway workers at the open session of 26th annual convention of Ledo branch of NFRMU at Ledo in Tinsukia district on Saturday, Ashish Biswas, the Assistant General Secretary of AIRF said that All India Railwaymen’s Federation has made a ground breaking history through its historic movement for the rights of railway workers. “The AIRF is set to make a new history like 1968 and 1974 if the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not cancel the New Pension Policy” said Biswas adding that the government did not understand the language of protest and called on all railway workers to make the Parliament gherao programme a success. Pulak Gogoi, the central Assistant Secretary of NFRMU also addressed the gathering who slammed the anti-people policies of handing over the Indian railway industry to the corporate sector like other lucrative industries and resources of the country. The open session was presided over by branch president Yesuram Sonowal and the meeting dissolved the old committee and formed a new committee of 15 members with Gopinath Sonowal as secretary and Gautam Pradhan as treasurer.
