Cleanliness drive at Chowkidinghee field under the auspices of Dibrugarh Public Health Engineering Department,

Dibrugarh: A cleanliness drive was launched on Tuesday to free the Chowkidinghee field of all kinds of waste under the auspices of Dibrugarh Public Health Engineering Department, an NGO named Chikun and Tekela Chiring Gaon Naamghar.

Among other senior officers, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha also took part in the drive which began from 6:30 am and lasted for around three hours. A total of 46 people took part in the drive that was undertaken to rid the popular field of the filth and other wastes that had accumulated over the past many days. The Chowkidinghee field, quite popular among different sections of the town for different reasons, is also a much sought after spot for hosting commercial and cultural events of the likes of book fairs and Bihu Sanmilans. The field had recently seen a sharp rise in the number of footfalls in the run-up to Phase 1 of the Lok Sabha elections, besides a portion of it being used for parking vehicles during the same time.
