Congress, CPI candidates Files Nomination Papers for Jorhat seat

JORHAT: Sushanta Borgohain of the Indian National Congress and Kanak Gogoi of the Communist Party of India (CPI) filed their nomination papers to Roshni A Korati, the Returning Officer of 12 Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency at her office chamber on Saturday.

The 12-Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency covers 10 legislative assembly seats and a total of 13,43,875 voters will elect their representative.

Congress candidate Sushanta Borgohain, who hails from Moran, was accompanied by senior Congress leaders like Dip Gogoi, MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi and Rana Goswami. Over 10,000 party supporters playing the dhol and Pepa accompanied Borgohain to the office of the Returning Officers. He submitted three sets of nomination papers to the Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officer.

Kanak Gogoi, the CPI candidate who hails from Abhyapuri, Nazira, is a prominent social worker from Sivasagar district. He filed three sets of nomination papers to the Returning Officer.

Both the candidates, after submission of papers, took the oath that they would follow all rules and regulations, in front of the Returning Officer Roshni A Korati and Deputy Returning Officer Jayanta Goswami.
