NAHARKATIA: The State Communist Party of India (Marxist) Dibrugarh district committee, under the aegis of Suresh Chandra Deka, secretary of CPI (M) Dibrugarh district committee, along with around 50 party members, staged protest in front of the party office at Naharkatia on Monday.

The protest was against the government's 'irrelevant' laws like changes made to the Labour Act and the government's handling of the Baghjan blowout and fire incident, putting Dehing-Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary and Dibru-Saikhowa National Park at risk and alleged corruption in Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN). Later, the leaders submitted a memorandum with 7-point charter of demands to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal through the Circle Officer of Naharkatia revenue circle.
