DIBRUGARH: The Designated Microscopic Centre (DMC) was inaugurated by Managing Director, Goodricke Group Limited Atul Asthana at Sessa Tea Garden in Dibrugarh on Tuesday. Sessa Tea Garden is owned by Stewart Holl (India) Ltd. of Goodricke Group of Companies.
The DMC will help in the examination of sputum of suspected Tuberculosis (TB) cases of the resident garden population and people of adjoining areas.
"This facility is the first of its kind in the tea industry which is a bold step towards eradication of TB by facilitating early diagnosis and treatment of the disease. This will help a long way in reducing hassles of patients visiting the AMC, Dibrugarh," said an official of Sessa Tea Garden.
The long-awaited DMC came into existence by joint efforts of State and District TB Cell and Goodricke Group Limited and is in line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship programme for the elimination of TB by the year 2025.
