Dhemaji-Dhakuakhana road will be a double-lane network, says Himanta Biswa Sarma

LAKHIMPUR: State Health, Finance, and PWD Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday laid the foundation stone of Dhakuakhana Town Water Supply Scheme, to be constructed with the investment of Rs. 5.40 crore. Prior to it, he also visited the Dhakuakhana Subdivisional Civil Hospital and inaugurated a free of cost blood testing laboratory there.

Addressing a public meeting in the subdivision near the Dhakuakhana Block Office, after laying the foundation stone of the water supply scheme, the Health Minister declared that a district-level civil hospital would be established in the subdivision soon. He further declared that the Dhemaji-Dhakuakhana connecting road would be constructed as a two-lane road very soon. “The road will be constructed with an investment of a fund of Rs 200 crore-Rs 250 crore under Asom Mala in the first phase honouring the long-time demand of the Dhakuakhana people. The tender process for the work will be completed by April of the next year. In the second phase, Gogamukh-Bordoi -Bebejia-Jengraimukh road will be constructed under the same scheme. Moreover, another scheme for the extension of road communication with an investment of Rs. 32 crore under Dhakuakhana has also been taken up,” he added.

The minister asserted that the ongoing construction work of the Dhakuakhana-Kamalabari connecting road with an investment of Rs. 80 crore would be completed soon. “A drastic change has come to the State with regard to the development scenario of road connectivity. The burden of files at Dispur in comparison to the mobility of road construction has decreased,” he said. Sarma highlighted the benefits of the developmental schemes implemented by the State Government during the last three-and-half years. He further threw light on various developmental schemes to be implemented in the near future.
