DHUBRI : With a view to supply safe and sustainable drinking water, Dhubri District Commissioner, Dibakar Nath, IAS officially adopted Chagalchara Piped Water Supply Scheme (PWSS) under Gauripur Development Block as part of Five Star Rating of Water User Committee.
This initiative inspired other officials including CEO Zilla Parishad, ADCs, Assistant Commissioners, Circle Officers and PHE Officials to individually adopt PWSS to ensure functionality of the water user committee and fulfilling their responsibilities. The DC recently visited the Chagalchara PWSS.
The visit was also accompanied by Executive Engineer Sofiur Rahman Mughal who highlighted the administration’s dedication to improve water security for the 615 households benefiting from the scheme.
The DC stressed on the importance of community involvement in ensuring the project’s long-term success. Addressing the Jal Mitras, he said the vital role they play in the scheme’s operation and maintenance, urging them to guarantee proper care and consistent functionality.
He also encouraged regular water quality testing using Field Test Kits (FTKs), underlining their significance in protecting public health by monitoring key water parameters.
The District Commissioner interacted directly with the local consumers, motivating them to actively participate in the scheme’s sustainability by contributing to monthly tariff collection.
