District Task Force meeting on dengue preparedness held in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: With an objective to promote collaboration among non-health sectors and to adopt a plan for effective dengue prevention and control in Tinsukia, a District Task Force meeting on dengue preparedness was held in Tinsukia under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar in the presence of Dipu Deka, ADC Health, Dr Gauri Sankar Gogoi, Joint Director of Health Services, Tinsukia, and other officials and representatives from line departments and Indian Medical Association (IMA) Tinsukia.

From the chair, it was suggested that breeding source reduction along with IEC generation should be the main strategy for dengue prevention in the district. According to the District Malaria Officer, Tinsukia in the month of October, five dengue positive cases were treated and cured all of which were having travel history of Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab etc.

Dr Gauri Sankar Gogoi stressed the fact that inter-departmental convergence was essential for dengue prevention in the district. Health being the nodal department, will support and do its best possible to combat the disease. There are various roles and responsibilities of the line departments which should be followed as per protocol to stop the spread of dengue.
