GUWAHATI: In a significant move, Dr. Debajit Dutta has been appointed as the Honorary State Secretary for Sports and Culture of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Assam State Branch for the term 2025–27. The appointment was officially announced during the 169th State Working Committee Meeting of IMA Assam, held at the ESI Hospital/Medical College in Guwahati.
Dr. Dutta’s dedication, leadership, and continued contribution to the medical and cultural landscape of the state have earned him this prestigious role. His appointment has been warmly welcomed by peers and well-wishers across Assam, recognising his active involvement in promoting holistic wellness, sportsmanship, and community engagement within the medical fraternity.
The Indian Medical Association’s State Working Committee commended his efforts in bridging the gap between medicine and meaningful extracurricular engagement, especially in the realm of culture and sports, a vital aspect of wellness often overlooked in the medical field.
Meanwhile, the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) earlier in February entrusted Dr. Sangrang Brahma as the secretary of the Youth Wing UPPL through a meeting held at its party headquarters, Kokrajhar. He was the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC Pramod Boro since 2020. He was warmly welcomed by the party.
