Durga Puja celebration with traditional pomp and gaiety in Kalaigaon

KALAIGAON: Along with the rest of the country, people of Kalaigaon started Durga Puja celebration with traditional pomp and gaiety from Saturday. The festival is being held at 30 places throughout the Kalaigaon area this year where pandals have been decorated in different themes. The Bhehguri Sarbajanin Puja Committee started the first day of the festival with a cleanliness drive on Saturday. A religious seminar on Hindu ideology was also held on Saturday evening.

The Bhehguri Durga Puja Committee organized drawing competition, recitation competition and quiz competition on Sunday. However, the Bhehguri Sarbojanin Durga Puja Committee organized folk dance and drama on Sunday evening instead of modern cultural function and the team was invited from Dhubri. They played Koch-Rajbangshi drama and Kushan dance on the occasion of Durga Puja.

The Tokankata Durga Puja is celebrating its 50th year in the premises of Jaydeb Mandal's residence. Police and para-military forces have been kept on high alert to control the law-and-order situation under Kalaigaon police station area. Further, the local administration has urged the people to go for an eco-friendly celebration.
