This was said by State BJP president and MLA of Sarbhug Ranjit Das after arriving here in Batadrava than, the birth place of Sreemanta Sankardev located in Nagaon district.
Amidst Celebrations of Saint Sankardev's 570 th birth Anniversary, Popularly Known as 'Guru Jayanti' in Batadrava, Ranjit das arrived for the first time here at around 1 pm in this holy place.
He was warmly welcomed by Batadrava than reception committee. After that the BJP president visited kirtanghar, offered prayers and participated in Nam prasang.
He was accompanied by Batadrava MLA Angoorlata Deka. Later, Ranjit Das attended a Religious session held on the bank of Akashi Ganga where MLA Angoorlata Deka, Vaishnov Scholars- Researchers took part. The meeting was presided over by Devananda Devgoswami, Batadrava Than reception Committee. It is to be mentioned here that the three-day-long celebration of Guru Jayanti ended today
in the evening after Various Sattriya cultural programmes along with staging of two Ankiya Bhaonas namely ‘Seeta Haran’ and ‘Bali Badh‘.
It may be mentioned that the 15th Century Saint, Scholar, Socio-Cultural reformer, Playwright and the founder of ‘Bhakti Movement‘, Srimanta Sankardev‘s 570th birth anniversary was being celebrated at Batadrava of Nagaon, the birthplace of the great Vaishnavite saint with pomp and gaiety.
A three-day-long celebration started with common Pransangs. From morning onwards, Devotees and visitors from across the state have thronged at Batadrava than, offer prayers and taking part in the Celebration.
The devotees recall Sankarguru by resounding Guru Vandana- Hari Nam. Today, at around 11 am, a Colourful Cultural procession was taken out Showcasing rich Sattriya Cultures- Creations of Sankardev enthralled the residents of greater Batadrava region. The procession was formally flagged off by Bhogeswar Borah, executive president of Batadrava than reception committee.
