GOLAGHAT: A Faculty Development Programme on SSR Preparation & Peer Team Visit (FDP) was held at Hemo Prova Borbora Girls' College, Golaghat recently.
The FDP was initiated with the opening remarks delivered by the IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Palash Handique. In his brief remark, Dr. Handique extended his warm greetings to the distinguished resource person from Pune, Maharastra, Dr. NS Dharmadhikari, an eminent educationist and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer Team member, and welcomed all the participating faculty members of the college.
The session was formally inaugurated with a brief address from the Principal of the college, Dr. Bipul Ch. Bhuyan. In his short speech, Dr. Bhuyan emphasized the importance of hosting such faculty development programmes to ensure qualitative and quantitative improvement of educational environment.
Speaking at the session, Dr. Dharmadhikari commended the effort of the organizers for hosting the FDP at the college. He also added that such events were often deemed to be important when it came to the submission of Self Study Report of a college for NAAC assessment.
Dr Dharmadhikari further underlined the importance of what he called 'C3 and D3' with regard to performing better in NAAC assessment. Thus, decoding the success mantra, he told the participants that a college in its functioning must not fall short in aspects such as creativity, consistency and commitment. Moreover, only collective dedication, devotion and dynamism would help any college moving forward.
He also said that a college must formulate its vision document. Such a document should accommodate visions of varied set durations. A foresighted vision document should focus on the achievable goals within a span of four to five years. Moreover, a college should have a clear and objective road map concerning its unending mission, and achievable goals (annually).
Continuing his deliberation, Dr. Dharmadhikari urged that an Institute of Higher Education (IHE) must work in tandem to meet the standards to ensure what he encapsulated as " ICT- industry based outcome oriented academic performance through collaborations with neighbourhood community connect by using technological amplification of learning." The FDP was attended by all the Heads of the Departments and the faculty members of the college.
