LAKHIMPUR: A Field Day event on mustard was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lakhimpur under the aegis of Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) on Friday. The programme was held in the presence of 30 farmers of the Pukhuriporia village under Karunabari Block of the district.
The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among the farmers about the NRCHB-101 variety of mustard and the economics of the same which was newly introduced in the village. Efforts were also made to create awareness among the farmers regarding the use of modern technologies and machineries for scientific production of mustard.
The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Dr. Prasanta Kumar Pathak, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Lakhimpur. Assistant Project Scientist, APART, KVK, Lakhimpur, Priyamjit Roy gave a brief overview on the mustard variety NRCHB-101 while stressing upon the advantages of the same. Crop cutting of the mustard variety "NRCHB-101" was also done as a part of the Field Day and the participants were involved in taking different scientific measurements of the crop which was facilitated by Durlov Bora, Research Technician, APART, KVK, Lakhimpur.
