First round of special immunization drive to be launched in Nagaon

As per directive of Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam, along with the rest of the State, district health services, Nagaon is all set to launch all rounds of special immunization drive

NAGAON: As per directive of Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam, along with the rest of the State, district health services, Nagaon is all set to launch all rounds of special immunization drive across the district from December 16 onwards among 0-5 years old drop-out or left-out babies as well as pregnant women.

Dr JK Das, Additional Chief Medical Officer, informed a press conference held late on Wednesday afternoon here at the office of the Joint Director, District Health Services, that the first round of the immunisation drive would begin on Friday and would last seven working days in the most difficult areas or very remote villages across the district."During the drive, various medical teams from the department concerned will cover every household and also conduct door-to-door visits in those areas or remote places, Dr Das stated, adding that the experts from the department concerned would give 11 vaccines for 13 diseases during the week-long drive."However, he stated that following the successful completion of the first round drive, the second and final rounds of the special immunisation drive would begin on January 17 and February 16 of next year, respectively."Dr. Arup Jyoti Mahanta, joint director, district health services, Nagaon, Dr. Mukut Deka, and other senior physicians from the district health services attended the conference as well.
