TEZPUR: Five persons lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Sonitpur district on Thursday. They have been identified as Khagen Nath (68), resident of Dhekiajuli, Dipak Tanti (49), resident of Narayanpur TE, Dhekiajuli, Rajen Lohar (69), resident of Kolony TE, Rangapara, Barnali Baruah (34), resident of Sonitnagar, Tezpur and Balit Basumatary (37), resident of Dopdopi, Sonitpur (declared brought dead to MCH, Darrang), taking the death toll to 126 in the district during the second wave of the pandemic.
Altogether 7,749 tests were done across the district on Thursday out of which 7,127 were RAT and rest RT-PCR and among the new 278 positive cases found, 259 cases were from RAT and 19 from RT-PCR.
