KALAIGAON: In an incident of hit and run case, a former AASU leader Dhruba Prashad Shikia (57) died in Kalaigaon on Friday at around 8 pm.
According to reports, Dhruba Shaikia of Outala village, 5 kilometers from Kalaigaon town who was on the way to his home from a function at Pragatishil Janamancha near Kalaigaon town was hit by a dumper from behind in front of Kalaigaon Shwahid Bhavan and died on the spot. Notably, the driver of dumper managed to escape from the scene of the incident and police are still unable to identify the accused. However, the Kalaigaon police assured that they would find out the driver immediately.
Later, the police sent the body for post-mortem in the morning on Saturday. Diganta Barua, Executive Member of BTC has also mourned the death of Dhruba Prashad Shaikia. Shaikia has left behind two sons, mother and his wife. Several organizations of Kalaigaon like AASU, AJYCP, Pragatishil Janamanch and Kalaigaon Press Guild.
