Foundation laid for Lakhimpur Commerce College gate

Foundation of a gate for Lakhimpur Commerce College was laid at its campus in Chukulibhoria in North Lakhimpur on Thursday. The gate will be in the memory

LAKHIMPUR: Foundation of a gate for Lakhimpur Commerce College was laid at its campus in Chukulibhoria in North Lakhimpur on Thursday. The gate will be in the memory of Robin Bordoloi, retired Vice-Principal of the college.

The foundation was laid by Urmila Saikia Bordoloi, wife of Robin Bordoloi at Chukulibhoria in presence of her family members, Principal Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Vice Principal GK Chetry, faculty members, students and local public. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Hazarika extended gratitude towards the family of Robin Bordoloi for their contribution to Lakhimpur Commerce College and wished them well in the future. Younger brother of Robin Bordoloi, Dr Jyiotish Bordoloi, who was also an alumnus of Lakhimpur Commerce College and retired Associate Professor of Government College, Halflong, son Dr Debashis Boirdoloi and daughter-in-law Dr K.M. Riva Das, daughter Bahnisikha Bordoloi, Assistant Professor of Lakhimpur Commerce College, and son-in-law Hirannya Dutta also participated in the foundation-laying ceremony of the college gate.

Earlier, the Internal Security and Cleanliness Cell of the college conducted cleanliness drive at the Chukulibhoria campus of Lakhimpur Commerce College which was inaugurated by Principal Dr Lohit Hazarika. This was followed by a massive plantation drive at the campus by the cell.

This was followed by the Bohag Bihu culmination ceremony at the campus where the college Husori troupe performed various Bihu dances. Popular film actor Prastuti Parasar, who was visiting the college for promotion of her latest movie, attended the function as guest of honour.

On the other hand, at the main campus of the college, an online workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Patents and Design filing was organized. The workshop was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Lakhimpur Commerce College in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management, Nagpur. Dr Lohit Hazarika, the Principal, inaugurated the workshop. The objective of the workshop was explained by Dr Dadul Rajkonwar, coordinator of the IQAC of the college. Dr. Bharat N. Suryawanshi, from RGNIIPM-Nagpur participated in the online programme as resource person. Dr. Suryavangshi delivered his speech on IPR calling for the faculty members and students to be innovative to cope up with the changing environment. He also suggested various ways and means to create new ideas and innovations in different areas. A total of 54 participants, including faculty members and students, were present at the workshop.
