Glorification of Krishna culture: Lakhimpur all set to celebrate Raax festival

LAKHIMPUR: Ahead of the Raax Purnima or Sharat Purnima on Tuesday, the people of Lakhimpur district are all set to celebrate the Raax Festival across the district, glorifying the Krishna culture and disseminating the essence of Bhaktism.

The Raax Festival celebration committees across the district, including North Lakhimpur and Dhakuakhona subdivisions, have almost completed their arrangements to celebrate Krishna Lila, the divine acts of the Supreme Lord in human incarnation, with a 2-3 day-long agenda from Monday.

In Batori Butala Parijat Sangha of Salalgaon of the district, which is the second pioneer social institution staging the Raax in the State, the festival will be celebrated from Tuesday with two-day long agenda. Similarly, Khaga Ranga Mancha, Panigaon Pragati Sangha, Bahpati Ranga Mancha, Madhya Telahi Anchalik Ranga Mancha, Udayn Sangha and various celebration committees under Nowboicha, Laluk, Bihpuriya, Narayanpur Dhalpur, Boginadi are also all set to celebrate the festival.

Popular cine actress Chetana Das, Rengani TV serial actor Tamak Ranjan Dutta and actress Momi Borah will play prominent roles. The Raax festival has been oganized by Madhya Telahi Anchalik Ranga Mancha. Similarly, various Raax Festival celebration committees of the district, have invited several popular actors and actresses of the Assamese cine world to act on stage.

In Dhakuakhona subdivision, the flood affected people of Mising community under Matmora will stage Raax on November 13 and November 14 under the auspices of Kikiri Dirbi Mojar Ope. The drama of Krishna Lila will be staged in the Mising language after 24 years. The artistes have been conducting the rehearsals in full swing during these days at Loyid Complex.

The celebration committee informed The Sentinel that Chief Executive Member of the Mising Autonomous Council, Paramananda Chayengiya and Mising cine artiste Delina Pegu will play two special characters in the drama.

Similarly, Jalbhari Natya Samaj of Dhakuakhana and Jalbhari Natya Mandir will stage their 49th stage of Raax on November 12 and November 13. On this occasion, the people of the larger Jalbhari area have rendered massive preparation under the auspices of the celebration committee headed by Dimbeswar Dutta Boiragi as president and Biman Sarmah and Tanu Bhorali as joint secretaries.
