Goalpara: Assam's Goalpara district bagged the National Water Award for Best District Water Conservation Category in National Water Awards Ceremony held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.
The awards were given by Jal Shakti Minister Gajender Singh Shekhawat.
Goalpara got the award for the district's works for RWH/Ground Water Recharge in AWCs, Water Purifiers in schools, the convergence of schemes with MGNREGA , Fisheries, Soil Conservation, Irrigation for creation of assets and livelihoods, and conservation efforts at Urpad Beel.
