GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat Regional AASU has expressed strong resentment over the dilapidated condition of the newly-constructed pavers block. They submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat district recently. The president and in-charge president of Golaghat Regional Students’ Union, Biswajit Gogoi and Sanjib Kalita respectively, said that the pavers block road from Ragajan to Pulibar had become deplorable within a short period of time. Due to alleged corruption and anomalies of the department concerned, the pavers block roads have become a death trap. The road was completed construction in the year 2016 and inaugurated by then PWD minister Ajanta Neog. But within a short period the road has become dangerous.

Substandard and low-quality construction and materials were allegedly used in construction of the pavers block road. At present, due to alleged apathy and negligence on the part of the PWD (R) department, the Rangajan-Pulibar connecting road has been in a deplorable condition since few months. This bypass road is using for connecting Golaghat town, Dergaon and Jorhat district and the road is the lifeline for the people of the region. But the pathetic condition of the road has made life miserable for them. Most of the parts of the pavers block road are breaking up and are filled with potholes.

Passengers have to travel with great risk while using this connecting road as the condition of the road in many places is pitiable. The AASU Golaghat Regional Students’ Union has demanded immediate repair of the roads otherwise they would carry out massive protest against the authority concerned.
