Biswanath Chariali: “The State government has laid emphasis on the development of handloom and textile sector in the State to make every Assamese family economically self-dependent,” said State Handloom and Textile Minister Ranjit Dutta at a public meeting held at Rangsali village under Behali LAC in Biswanath district on Sunday. He further added that the government had fixed the price of endi leta and cocoon banks had been set up at several places to purchase the produce of the endi farmers. A spinning industry would be set up at Borgang in the district very soon for the benefit of such farmers, he added.
On the other hand, the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government had undertaken initiatives to sanction an amount of Rs 1.20 crore to every revenue village in the State for modernization of such villages. Rangsali village was declared a model village by the government earlier. The minister also said that solar fencing system had been installed in the adjoining areas of Brahmaputra River to put a halt to the ongoing man-elephant conflicts in the areas caused by frequent visits of wild elephants from the Kaziranga National Park.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, Dhiraj Jyoti Kalita, Superintendent of Police of Biswanath, Diganta Kumar Choudhury, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Diganta Baishya.
