It is to be noted that the Guwahati Police Commissionerate has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp helpline to enhance community policing and provide citizens with a convenient platform for lodging grievances and seeking assistance. Launched by the newly appointed Police Commissioner, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, the initiative aims to make the police more accessible and responsive to public concerns.
The helpline, reachable at 6026900651, allows residents to report incidents, raise concerns, and request help through WhatsApp messages on a 24x7 basis. The service is designed to streamline grievance redressal and facilitate direct communication with the police. The helpline will be closely monitored from the commissioner’s office, ensuring prompt action on issues raised.
The Commissioner highlighted the initiative as part of a broader effort to involve the community in maintaining law and order and preventing crime in Guwahati. The helpline is expected to bridge the gap between the police and the public, fostering trust and encouraging active participation in policing efforts.
This initiative represents a significant step toward creating a responsive and people-friendly policing system, demonstrating the city police’s commitment to leveraging technology for better community engagement and efficient grievance resolution. The service underscores the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and citizens for a safer city.
