GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, four friends allegedly attacked 29-year-old Akash Choudhury in the Kahilipara area of Guwahati after a night of drinking. The incident took place at around 8:45 PM on Tuesday and Akash was declared dead at Hayat Hospital half an hour later, at 9:15 PM.
Akash, who used to work as a Rapido rider at night, was at a local shop near the Kahilipara Power House, socializing with his friends. The friendly gathering turned into a violent fight in which Akash was severely beaten. It is reported that he was assaulted and allegedly thrown in front of an oncoming vehicle, which made his injuries worse.
Jiyarul Ali, one of the accused, sent Akash in an auto rickshaw to Hayat Hospital, but Akash died in the rickshaw before the victim could be taken to the hospital.
The police have arrested the four accused persons in the case: Banjit Rajbongshi (27), Jiyarul Ali (28), Debabrat Mallik (27), and Tarun Buragohain (25). Jiyarul mentioned that the group had intended to enjoy drinks together, but after Akash became excessively intoxicated, Jiyarul claimed that he had asked Akash to come down from the upper level of the shop. The precise events that led to the escalation of the situation are still being investigated as authorities seek to clarify the circumstances surrounding Akash's unfortunate death.
