'Hacha Kekan' a post-harvest festival celebrated in Karbi Anglong

HOWRAGHAT: People of Langpher MAC constituency under Diphu Legislative Assembly Constituency celebrated ‘Hacha Kekan’ festival, a post-harvest festival of the Karbi community, at Rajapathar.

The Karbi traditional event was organized and spearheaded by Karbi Locharli Jutang Aterang (KLJA). The enthusiastic ritual of ‘Horbong arnam kipu’ was performed by Lunsepo Semson Ingti followed by traditional dances which include ‘Rit nong chingdi, ‘Hen up ahi ke-en’ and ‘Hacha Kekan’. The traditional songs like Rongkim Alun, Ritnong Chingdi Alun, and Kathi Keplang Alun were sung by the traditional singer called ‘Lunsepo’.

Karbi youth artisans made home-to-home visits. This programme was started at Rajapathar from the residence of State HAD minister Sum Ronghang on Saturday.
