Hailakandi administration asked people to accept coins as legal tender

HAILAKANDI: The Hailakandi district administration has asked the people to accept one and two rupee coins as legal tenders.

In the light of submission made by Lead District Manager following a joint petition by Nagarik Adhikar Suraksha Samiti, District Committee and Merchant Association, Hailakandi that people are refusing to accept coins of one and two rupees denominations hitting the small traders and people of lower income groups hard, the administration has asked people to accept coins as legal tender as it has the mandate of Reserve Bank of India. An order to this effect was issued by the administration here on Wednesday.
