Unchecked chemical discharge from the Numaligarh Refinery into the Hatimara Jan is said to have caused a serious environmental and health disaster in the Rajabari area of Numaligarh, making the area more and more uninhabitable.
According to reports, there is dangerously high pollution in the impacted area, especially in Hatimara Jan in the Rajabari region. The surrounding community is experiencing widespread anguish and terror as a result of the persistently bad odour coming from the contaminated waterways, according to residents. Allegedly, the stream has been tainted by the toxic effluents, turning what was once an essential natural resource into a cause of illness and misery.

According to the locals, the pollution has made daily living all but impossible. They claimed to be unable to breathe and eat normally. Contaminated land and water have forced many to stop farming, which is essential to their survival.
The public health impact is especially concerning. Numerous villagers are reporting symptoms like eye discomfort, skin redness and itching, and ongoing respiratory issues. A number of people have been unwell for no apparent reason, which has increased the community's sense of unease and anxiety.
The calls for medical assistance and investigation are becoming stronger every day.
The problem in Hatimara Jan could intensify if nothing is done, harming the ecosystem of the area irreparably and deteriorating the health of the local inhabitants.
