SILCHAR: Jahangir Alam Chowdhury of Paramount School, Hailakandi was the lone rank holder in the HS final examination as he secured third position in Commerce stream. Jahangir scored 468 out of 500. Apart from Jahangir’s success, the overall results in Barak Valley in all the three streams were not up to the mark.
The pass percentage in all the three streams dropped in comparison to previous years. In Arts stream, the pass percentage had dropped to 70.12 per cent from last year’s 83.48 per cent. In Science stream, last year the pass percentage was 92.19 per cent and in this year it had dropped to 84.96 per cent. Similarly in Commerce stream too, pass percentage dropped from last year’s 87.27 per cent to 79.57 per cent.
In MIL Bengali, Panchali Biswas of Karimganj Shiksha Vikas Senior Secondary School scored state highest with 97 per cent while Dilwar Hussain Barbhuiyan of Badarpur NC College topped in Urdu. Sanghamitra Dutta of Ramanuj Gupta Junior College secured state highest marks in Kathak while Daisy Sarma of Emmanuel English HS School scored highest in Multi media and Web-tech.
